Vitamix vs Blendtec Blenders

There were a few years during which I used a Kitchenaid blender at home and I have got to say, it did a pretty decent job. It came with .9 horsepower & had close to 670 watts. But while many may consider this to be a very powerful blender, the fact of the matter is that there are much more powerful blenders available in the market today. These blenders are known as super blenders and there are pretty much just two which are constantly at battle for the top spot. I'm talking about the champion, Vitamix and the challenger, Blendtec.

I remember the first time I was introduced to a Vitamix blender.

It was amazing how this handy little blender could liquefy almost anything without any effort at all. Even fibrous vegetables like celery, cucumbers, leafy greens, carrots, etc. were no match for the 2 horsepower, 1500 watt monster. And the best part was that you didn't have to worry about the seeds, skin, etc. Throw everything in and you will still get an excellent smoothie. This truly is one spectacular machine. What's more, with this machine, you could grind wheat and make bread quite easily as well. You could even make sorbets, ice creams and various other desserts in this blender. And if that wasn't enough, you could even use this blender to make piping hot soups. What more could you want? Yes, the Vitamix truly was the king of the hill.

But today, this blender is facing tough competition from another blender, Blendtec.

And while Vitamix blenders come with 2 horsepower, Blendtec blenders come with 3 horsepower. But we all know that power isn't the only deciding factor is it. The Vitamix still has some other features which prove that it is the better blender.

Now let's talk about fans. The Vitamix comes with a tamper which gives you the option of pushing food down into the blades. The Blendtec, on the other hand, comes with digital controls which may be preferred by some.

At the end of the day, just like the huge competition going on between PC and Mac users, Blendtec vs Vitamix users have pretty much started doing the same thing. Both only see the advantages of their own blenders and the disadvantages of the other. But if you actually start comparing both blenders pound for pound, you will see that neither can really be called the true king of the hill. Both have pros and both have cons. I guess all you can do is choose the one which satisfies your requirements perfectly. After all, nobody's perfect.
